La Liga, UK reach temporary solution to television rights roadblock ahead of 2019/20 season by striking short-term deal with commercial-broadcaster ITV // Hours before the 2019/20 La Liga season was to commence, UK viewers were left without a platform to tune into the Spanish top flight. After some squabbling between broadcasters and the league’s organising body, which yanked its regional rights tender after receiving unsatisfactory bids before the July 25 deadline, La Liga and ITV reached a deal Thursday. Albeit a short-term solution, UK and Ireland viewers will have access to watch one live La Liga match for the first three rounds as invested parties seek a definitive, long-term agreement. // Prior to the end of the 2018/19 season, Eleven Sports severed their exclusive three-season agreement with La Liga, eventually leading to a three-way interim deal involving ITV and pay-TV channel Premier Sports to see out the campaign. Although all three parties are said to be interested in acquiring the rights of Spanish football’s first division on a more substantial basis than the one agreed to today, ITV are said to remain the party with ahead. // Though Spanish football fans from the UK and Ireland will be granted free access to Friday’s season-opener between Athletic Club and Barcelona on ITV4 and ITV Hub LIVE from 8:00 p.m. BST (UK) London, questions have been raised as to why it took so long to come to this agreement. But, perhaps more importantly: will a long-term deal be reached or will fans have to seek alternative pathways to watch La Liga? A short-term fix no doubt, but this remains a developing story as a territory with this much passion and interest in the league demands a optimal viewing solution.

Ever wondered how to properly contact a professional ⚽️ team? Check out @mattsheldon23 method 👇 // “Emailing coaches/teams definitely has a lower success rate than using a reputable agent or a reliable connection, but I have obtained dozens of trials, invites into preseason, or even contracts from looking up coaches/teams and sending them an email. // I keep my emails short and to the point. I introduce myself as a player, explain what I’m looking for, and attach a professional CV and Highlight video. // 90% of the time, I won’t even get a reply, but the few replies I do get usually lead to a great opportunity.
