“Nothing grows without vulnerability. A plant doesn’t grow where it’s hard and thick, it grows where it’s green and soft and vulnerable...A crustacean has to leave its’ hard shell to be exposed and vulnerable in order to grow.” -Dr. Gabor Mate’ . Vulnerability is critical and in fact, necessary for our growth to occur. And yet, vulnerability can be a difficult way of being for many of us due to early childhood programming that gets reinforced repeatedly over our lifetime by society, our families, our friends, workplace cultures and other communities and spaces we inhabit. If people react with disgust or anger or dismiss you altogether when you share yourself, why would you choose to share yourself again because of the risk? In time, the message becomes clear, it’s “better” and “safer” to hide yourself. The seeds of shame have been planted and they take root to become your beliefs about who you are and what’s allowed and “okay.” . It’s scary and risky to open up, to reveal ourself, our actual true in process everchanging and ever evolving self with others. And yet, this is necessary if we want to grow. . So, our work is to practice vulnerability over and over to help us build this muscle, to help us gain confidence with this experience, to acclimate to the sensations that come with being vulnerable and to remind us that it is safe to be vulnerable and we can and will take care of ourselves. We get to create spaces in our lives and within our relationships where it’s accepted and welcome to show up and practice vulnerability. And hopefully, over time, vulnerability can become more of the (your) way of being. . We must challenge ourselves to practice vulnerability in order to help ourselves grow. . I remain in awe of the humans I work with because they are showing up and practicing vulnerability. They are willing to open up and reveal their tenderness. They are willing to meet themselves in their own raw, green softness as a way to connect with their experience, their humanity and their hearts so they can grow. Their desire to grow outweighs their fear. This is epically awesome to witness and it encourages me to do the same in my own life.

****PERFECTION......doesn’t exist*** • We are taught at a young age that we need to play nice, and fit in. That being popular is directly related to the idea that you are a better and more therefore important person. But obviously - not true! • So yes. Be kind & nice & and a good human. But being perfect is unattainable and therefore a worry not worth having. Be 100%. Be weird. Be different. Wear what you want. have that picture taken - even if you hate it! Don’t apologize for being what or who you are, but embrace the parts of you that you don’t love, because they do not define your worth. Not everyone will love you. And that is perfectly ok! There are lots that will for the every thing that you are, and will love you wholeheartedly. • Find your tribe. Live your life. Enjoy your weekend 🤗🥰 #practicevulnerability

Drey Wednesday thoughts. Summer is slowing down for sure, and I making the most of my outdoor days. Making a crown out of Queen Anne's Lace has turned into one of my traditions. It makes me feel like a fairy queen. Bonus - I get to put it on my toddler and snap adorable shots for as long as she lets me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Fall is my favorite season, though I'm in no rush for it to be here. This Fall will bring some changes - God willing, I'll be done with grad school, running Social Circle and Seize Your Story, and changing my lifestyle for the better. I also have tickets to see @racheldoesstuff. Do you have plans for Q4 yet? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #practicevulnerability ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Monday Motivation! Yoga is a beautiful way to accomplish most, if not all on this list 🕉 We look forward to seeing you on your mat this week!! #practicevulnerability

Aug 12th is approaching. It makes my throat tighten and heart ache. That is the date my husband and I separated last year. Yes, we are back together as a family under the same roof. But you don’t snap your fingers and all is healed. Nor should you. If you think so, good luck with that. If you truly want it to work you have to put in the work. Outside looking in we all think other’s lives are going or should go a certain way. We all do things our own way. Support your friends. Don’t judge them. I’m so happy my heart is FINALLY starting to heal. So appreciate my husband for respecting my process of coping, healing and learning to trust again. I still have “the rug could be pulled out from under me again” feeling but it gets less and less every month. #practicevulnerability ♥️
