Kinderdijk, Netherlands

Kinderdijk is declared a UNESCO heritage site, and is located about 15 km from Rotterdam. In order to drain the Polder water, 19 windmills were built, which are still one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Netherlands. • #unesco @earthofficial @earthpix @earthfocus @epic.travels @planetfervor @natgeo @travelshoot.it @lonelyplanet @discovery.hd

Abu Simbel, Aswan, Egypt

Abu Simbel is the prime example of ancient Egyptian art 🇪🇬. The site has two temples carved into a mountainside (I think this should be called a world wonder too!) There are four colossal statues of King Ramesses II (who built the temple) guarding the entrance of the big temple. I was overwhelmed by looking at the statues towering above my head. It felt like that they shut out everything but the sense of awe and wonder.

Burgos, Spain

Our Lady of Burgos is a 13th-century cathedral that stands proud and prominent in the heart of the city. Burgos is located in the Castile and León region of northern Spain and is an incredibly historic city. Construction of the Gothic cathedral began in 1221; however, it wasn’t completed until 1567. The beautiful cathedral was inscribed onto the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984. This lovely city is also on the main route of Camino de Santiago, so you’ll see plenty of weary pilgrims wandering through. - - - - - - - - - - #UNESCO

Buillt by Rajaraja cholla 2nd in 12th century, this is Airavateshwara temple located at Darasuram, Kumbakonam, Tamilnadu. I visited this temple along with Brihdeshwara temple which is in Thanjavur. This hindu temple is a world unesco heritage site. Airavateshwara Temple is one of the three Great living Chola Temples also the last of the 3 great chola temples. Rest two temples are Brihdeshwara and Gangaikonda. These 3 temples are marvel of ancient Indian architecture. The kind of work done in these temples are exceptional. To me Airavateshwara temple was a big surprise. Royal courtyard and Chariot drawn by the horses are full of amazing carvings of hindu gods. Chariot wheel looks smilar to chariot wheel at Konark Sun Temple. Some archeologists even says that this is also a sun dial. You can even spot a carving of Buddha in a part of Chariot. In courtyard you can see the miniature carving of wedding of Lord Shiva & Parvati. Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Airavateshwara named after the white elephant, vehicle of Indra. In images you can see : Temple courtyard, Chariot, hidden buddha, carving of pregnant woman giving birth while she is standing and ladies beside her doing some help, lady holding a mirror kind of thing, doing gymnastics, daily prayere etc. Do visit Great living Chola Temples. You will feel great about your ancient culture, history and country. #unesco
