Offsite wine storage is something that we had only recently considered. We have approximately 50 bottles of storage at our apartment between two solid little wine fridges. This does a great job of holding short-term wine - wines Mot is planning on drinking within the next 12 months (Zins aside - we鈥檒l pull a few of those back this fall). But when it comes to keeping anything for more than about 12 months, 50 bottles became somewhat鈥 restrictive. First in our thought process was to do with Turley. We absolutely adore their beautiful, big bottomed bottles, buuuut they do not exactly leave much room in the fridge (unless you鈥檙e talking about their Cab - then their bottle is as thin as it is delicious). So a few bottles of Turley? Well, when you realize that we have a case in hand, and a few cases on the way, we were in trouble. Compound that with her Champagne, and space was going fast. The other thing had to do with a desire to start verticals. Mot enjoys Chianti, and has been curious about starting the aging process with a few iconic producers (hit us with some recommendations). However, buying bottles of something you鈥檙e not planning on drinking for five, ten, or twenty years is tough when you know that, for now, our storage is limited. This takes away that reluctance, as we know we now have space to think in a long term way as we approach our wine acquisitions. We鈥檙e excited - it will add to the fun of searching, and leave off the pressure caused by loss of space. So now that we have room鈥 Any ideas of verticals we should start? So far, we have started stacks of Bedrock, Fontodi, and Turley, and are looking to expand on our Deux Punx, Fine Disregard, and Enfield. Cheers! . . . . . . . . . stagram
