I think it's important to make educated green choices. I don't often but coffee outside of home, and I really trying to stay away from single use cups/ plastic. The other day I had a meeting but some time to spare in between so I went into @timhortons bought my coffee is a glass cups, enjoyed the AC and WiFi to work and read @greenasathistle in between. When I left, I got yet another coffee ( I know, I know...) I'n my reusable mug for the road. This is where I did some learning! At some Time Hortons locations, they do not pour directly into your clean mug. On this day, they filled a brand new paper cup, and poured it into my coffee before I even realized what was going on! And then ( I caught this one in time) tried to use a plastic stir stick to stir it up. I can be empathetic to health and safety codes etc. However when I asked if I can just have my coffee next time poured into my mug the kind worker informed me I could, she was just trained this way and didn't think of it. I thankfully noticed this as I was in the store, but might not have at a drive through. Sometimes we think we are making green choices and yet they are not. I now know I need to specify my green requests right when I order or even prior to ensure it can be done. #litterlessdoesntalwaysmeanlitterless #moreeducationneeded #greenchoices #choosegreen #alwayslearning #singleuseplastic #plasticfreedom #notosingleuseplastic #ecogoals #ecoholic #wecanalldobetter #morechangeisneeded #sustainableliving #reuse #bringyourownmug #reusablecup #nostraws #ecojourney #elgincounty #yayforearth #dontlitter #ecoconsciousliving #ecofriendly #sleepingnakedisgreen #educateyourself #coffeeholic #lessidling
So many amazing zero waste stores in Colorado, including @consciouslivingshop in #ColoradoSprings! We’re very grateful to work with and support fellow female-owned small businesses 💚♻️💚⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #zerowastestore #stockistlove #sustainablebrands #ethicalbrands #zerowasteproducts #zerowastecolorado #lowimpactliving #circularliving #yayforearth #goingzerowaste #supportsmall #supportwomen #reducewhatyouproduce #trashfree #litterless
🌿Finally ran out of a couple different laundry soaps I wanted to use up before swapping to a zero waste option! So pumped to have this zero waste, natural laundry soap available for you guys in the shop! Made with love in Florida 🍊 It smells very mild, a little citrusy but naturally unscented. Dissolve in whatever jug you prefer, makes an entire gallon per bar, cut it in half & fill a 64oz growler or cut into quarters & fill a large quart size mason jar! 1/2 oz per load & 1-2oz for extra large or stinky loads. My little fiesta turtle is going to be doing our measuring 🍹🐢What’s your favorite plastic free laundry soap you’ve tried?! I just tried a few weeks of Dropps & it didn’t really seem to work for us, not sure if it’s our water or toddler stank level but excited for this more powerful soap 🧺🧼 She has a best friend stain remover bar too that works magic on tougher stains 🦄 Yay for plastic free alternatives 🤩💙
Untrashing the planet one zerowaste decision at a time. Making these small changes and daily choices FOR sustainability simply because I can. Also, it’s hella . So why not? #everydayisearthday #jointhemutiny #beinggreenisawesome #gimmethatkoolaid
I far from perfect on my journey to be more sustainable & create less waste, but one thing I have figured out is @stevieyaaaay makes the best lotion out there — with quality, ethical, waste-free ingredients & packaging. 🌈 This time I brought my little jar of sunshine on a backpacking trip to CO and it kept my skin healthy and nourished through airports, high elevation, dry air, sunny days, rainy days, not showering, mosquito bites, sweat, and everything else. Thank you stevie for pouring so much love into your products! I didn’t get a single dang breakout 💚🌞 #yayforearth
One of the best switches I made on my 'less waste journey' was swapping to a safety razor. • If you are scared to cut yourself, I can highly recommend @leafshave. I have never cut myself due to the pivoting head (beweglicher Kopf). Additionally I use a solid soap instead of a shaving foam. • Have look at the little videos to see how to it looks like and how to change the blades. • It has a great impact for the environment & the people producing it: ✨ no single-use plastics & no fossil fuels ✨ stainless steel that can be completely recycled ✨ ethically & fair produced - not harming people ✨ vegan and not tested on animals ✨ no electronics • And it also has a great impact on your wallet: Stainless steel razor: 🌿 One-time investment: from 34 to 85€ 🌿 Blades (100 pieces): from 9,50 to 20€ 🌿 I need 1.5 blades in 3-4 months: ~6 blades/ year 🌿 Easily cleaned = 85€ + ~1€/ year Plastic razor: ❌ Investment (incl. 6 blades): from 16 to 25€ ❌ Blades (6 pieces): from 15 to 25€ ❌ I had to swap blades every 2 months for hygienic reasons as they cannot be cleaned very well = 25€ + ~20€/ year Single-use plastic razor are even more expensive in the long run! • Have you already made the swap? Which one are you using? Let me know in the comments💚 ............... For some, this may sound like too much work to start with, and is that we have grown used to the commodities of the modern world, forgetting that we are neither separate from, nor unaffected by, our natural surrounding and that the course of the human race is directly affected by the direction of the Earth's environment in which we live. Therefore, we must embrace practices which have little (or no) impact on our environment both now and in the future. . ᴛʜᴇ ғᴏʟʟᴏᴡɪɴɢ; ᴀʀᴇ sᴍᴀʟʟ ʙᴜᴛ ɪᴍᴘᴀᴄᴛғᴜʟ ʜᴀʙɪᴛs ᴡᴇ ᴄᴀɴ ᴇᴀsɪʟʏ ᴀᴅᴅʀᴇss. ⬇️ • ɢɪᴠᴇ ᴜᴘ ʙᴏᴛᴛʟᴇᴅ ᴡᴀᴛᴇʀ Nearly 30 Billion plastic water bottles are sold annually in the U.S with less than 20% of them being recycled (and even recycling them wastes unnecessary energy).
