🤔One interesting thing I’ve learned over the past year is that diet is critical and physical activity, while important for health, doesn’t have as much impact on fat loss as I used to think.🤷‍♀️ . Here’s what I mean... . I used to spend 10 hours a week in the gym🏋️‍♀️...a big time investment that's harder to make the older I get. . It's not an excuse, just illustrating a larger point that over the past year most of my workouts have been about 20 minutes at home...and over the last 4-6 months I basically pick one exercise a day and do random sets of it through the whole day; very different.💪 . During the past year, I’ve also embraced intermittent and 24-36 hour fasts.🍽 . What have I learned? . That the is pretty amazing. It’s smart, it protects lean mass, it knows how to repair itself and it needs time for recovery...and the best way it can recover is when we go periods without eating and signal to our bodies it’s time for some deep cleaning!👍 . The more I fast and focus on functional movement, while still using my muscles, the more time I have for enjoying other things and, ironically, I’ve developed a better relationship with food.🙌 . My muscles haven’t disappeared, the fat I was struggling to burn over a year ago for my wedding finally melted away, and my energy levels and mental cognition improve during the 24-36 hour fasts.🤗 . And now, these tools and habits are giving me the best fighting chance at staying lean, active and healthy, despite my throwing up one hurdle after another!👊 . So if you haven’t jumped on the IF bandwagon yet...let me just plant the seed😉 . . . . . #flex
