⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👨🏼‍⚕️ Dr Hermano Pinheiro 📊 Cusimano MD, et al. JAMA. 2017. #headinjury

We see HEAD INJURIES quite frequently as school nurses. If you hit your head or your child hits their head, don’t blow it off. I think I’m finally getting better after 72 hrs of complete bedrest with minimal stimulation, light, and noise. However, all I did was bump my head on the toilet. Even as a nurse I didn’t really suspect much. Watch out for these symptoms: 🤕🛏💊🤞 🤕 Headaches right after or a few hrs after hitting your head 🤕 Headaches that come on suddenly after any activity (cleaning the house, mowing the lawn for me) 🤕 Difficulty sleeping at night due to head and neck 🤕 Dizzy spells 🤕 Possibility of whiplash from even a small hit. 🤕 This is possibly the most important one to me as a school nurse - NO BUMP does not equal no head injury. My very small bump quickly went away. The symptoms however did not. 🤕Last but not least, if you hit your head and start vomiting, go directly to ER. #headinjury

While concussions can occur in any contact support, fast-paced, high velocity activities such as skiing, and snowboarding can lead to serious injury including concussion. An important fact to keep in mind is that concussions aren’t necessarily always caused by a blow to the head nor are they always accompanied by loss of consciousness. A blow to the or whiplash motion can cause enough force to be transmitted to the head to cause a concussion. Here at Altitude Physio we are proud to say we are apart of the complete concussion management network. # #headinjury

Happy Monday!💕 I hope everyone is having a killer start to their week. If you’re on the go, a super easy thing to throw together is a rice bowl!🍚🥗 just put some rice in a bowl, add a protein like chicken or salmon and any veggies you have to throw on top! I love to put avocado🥑 and sesame seeds in mine too and then top it off with a dressing! My go-to rice bowl dressing is teriyaki sauce☺️
