Just because you don't take interest in politics, doesn't mean politics wouldn't take interest on you. #historian

Bullock Texas State History Museum

The Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin, TX reproduced this facade of the chapel of the Mission San Antonio de Valero in order to shed a light on a defining chapter of the state's history. As an icon for the Texan fight for independence, this building is known as the "Alamo" and it defines one room of the exhibition „Building the Lone State Identity“. Here, the chapel has been redesigned in almost original size and the finishing touches come close to what it "would have looked like in 1836" when thousands of Mexican soldiers under the command of Santa Anna took the mission after 13 days of battle from the 250 men defending its walls. So how does the museum approach this delicate and sensitive subject of Mexican, Texan and U.S. history? The Bullock Museum tries to include many perspectives and identities into the discussion about this historical interpretation and for instance offers the viewpoints of Captain Juan Nepomuceno Seguin on the events of 1836 in the film shown at the theatre inside the "chapel". What is a promer way of addressing the "Alamo" from where you are standing when it comes to museum displays? @bullockmuseum #historian

Some pictures from yesterday. Visited a 50s Event called "Rheinbach classics" where you could listen to some Rock n' Roll music while buying vintage clothes and see some beautiful old cars. Afterwards I went to Bad Münstereifel and got to see the historical buildings of this beautiful little town while watching fireworks at the end of the day. It's really lovely there, can highly recommend it. 💕🌸🌸🌸 #historian
