β€œIt’s a crazy life. Hello, I rebel!” From across the miles I received this pic and how can I not smile. We know what life is like, we have been through some take me out of this darkness moments and also been through some don’t ever let this feeling go away moments but we are here still moving forward, still taking intentional steps and so I salute you, we all salute you. And so β€œHello, I rebelle all day! You?” #supportsurvivors

Dear Survivors,

Another message from a beautiful brave survivor. I always in awe of hearing others stories and how strong they are. Thank you to those who have supported me. And I only hope I have been able to support you as well.

Spend a few minutes on an online assault forum, you will see post after post describing an encounter that was troublesome and following it with the question, was this ? I did it too. Well, at first I was in denial and truly thought that I could convince myself it was consensual. Surprisingly, that did not work! When I started to allow myself to admit the truth, I found myself calling crisis lines or posting in forums as well asking that very question. Once I had begun to acknowledge the reality of what happened, I found myself desperately wanting it to be confirmed for me. Perhaps to compartmentalize or perhaps looking for the label so I could be β€œjustified” in my trauma. So I understand the need and want to ask this question but also please remember that you don’t need anyone to define it for you to make your experience valid. assaultawareness survivors assault survivor survivor
