My first hand book! I've been dreaming about making one for months and finally got everything I needed (including an online class). This is a really fun project and I love the torn edges of the pages as well as the origami paper on the cover pieces. This spine is a coptic stitch so it lays flat when open, perfect for sketching in. . . . . . .

Question of the day: Can you draw with ink over acrylic paint? Answer: YES I'm not a fan of how glossy the acrylic paint is but it worked. . . . . . .

This is the last of the three pieces I'm sending to Albuquerque for the Black Hole Atomic City show. The title for this one is "Spring Comes" and it's the little ray of hope in this series. The lotus rises from the water, clearing away the noxious clouds. It's kind of hidden, but the talisman design from my last post is in this one too. Can you find it? . . . . . . .

2nd of 3 pieces for the upcoming show Black Hole Atomic City. It's on in Albuquerque starting Aug 3. If you're in the area, check it out. It's a really cool and diverse group of artists. Third one coming up tomorrow! . . . . . . .

This is a gloomy drawing I made for an exhibition next month on the nuclear industry in New Mexico. The more research I did to prepare for the show, the worse I felt. It but I think it is important to fully feel those unpleasant emotions. Can't move through them if you just hide and avoid. Once I moved into the making stage, I focused on creating the art as an amulet, like a protective talisman for all who view it. This is the first of three talisman pieces. I'll share the other ones over the next few days. Then it'll be time to ship these babies off to Albuquerque! . . . . . .

Progress pic. Making work for an upcoming group exhibition in Albuquerque, NM. My first REAL show! (I say real because it's not a student showcase or anything, it's something I applied and was accepted for). The theme is on the nuclear industry in New Mexico, a very scary and depressing topic. Some of the other pieces I'm working on are pretty dark but it was important to me that there be a touch of hope in at least some of the work. That's this lovely little lotus flower! . . . . . .

πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰It's done! I made a shop.πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ It took a lot of people pressuring me for a long time to get me to commit to this but it feels good to cross it off the list. Check it out if you're interested. Now I'm done being productive for the day. I'll be on the couch if you need me😊

πŸŽ‰Day 29 AND 30!πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ I made it! I forgot to post last night😬but I did the art. For 30 days. Hells yeah! Feels so good. More of that same color palette too and l'm super into it! TOMORROW guys. Tomorrow I'll share the link to my shop. Today I'm actually grateful that this 30 days is over. I have a group exhibition next month to prepare for. Very excite!

Day 28: I'm playing around with negative painting. The hardest part is deciding where to end it. Like, do I go to the edge of the page or sort of blob it, like this one? Or maybe I make a shape, like an oval.....? Need to keep practicing. I love this color palette though. Expect to see more of it. I know I don't have many followers but the percentage of folks who respond to my work, out of the people who actually see it, is really moving. Today, I'm so grateful to you guys. Thank you for your support! ❀ πŸŽ‰SALE ON SUNDAY! πŸŽ‰You got your eye on one of these pieces? Hit me up. Send me a message. You can grab it up before I list it.

Day 27: Guys, I'm freaking out over how cool these leaf prints are! I want to make a million more. They're kind of moody but delicate at the same time....swoon Today I'm grateful for that amazing post-kung fu euphoria. It's soooooo good! . . . . . .

Day 26: Happy belated Canada day! Made these cool prints with a maple leaf. I love how they turned out! Expect to see more in the future guys. I'll be putting the good ones from this 30 day challenge for sale on SUNDAY. Stay tuned. Today I'm grateful for acupuncture. I went for my first appointment in a really long time today and I feel so good! Then I took myself out for lunch and bought myself some flowers. It ended up being a real self-love kinda day. And it's not over yetπŸ˜‰ . . . . . .

Day 25: just for fun. Some neon pink reishi mushrooms. I'm really into reishi in my coffee or hot chocolate. Yum! Today was busy, I really didn't want to paint at the end of the day but it did ends up being fun. Today I'm grateful for my parents. We had a long talk on the phone today and it's so comfy. . . . . . .

Day 24: Wow, I'm almost up to 30! I'm loving these cloud images. If you're wondering how I make them, I basically roll ink onto a plate and then remove the cloudy area with a cloth. I add a few shadows by dabbing extra ink on carefully and that's it! I'd like to make a video but I need an assistant to film it for me. These 30 day challenge pieces will be for sale once the challenge is over (at a reasonable price). I'll keep you posted. Today I'm grateful for Sunday afternoon naps:) . . . . . .

Day 23: It got all stormy out this afternoon, great atmosphere for making some prints. The marks from the brayer (it's a little roller that you roll the ink onto the plate with) are kind of distracting in this piece but overall I'm very happy with it. It feels so open and free. I really love a good skyscape, they feel so expansive. Today I'm grateful for rainy afternoons, especially when you're not at work and you can be cozy at home. . . . . . .

Day 22: This is a painting of a feather I brought home from Newgrange in Ireland from my trip there last summer. I still have said feather because by some miracle the cat hasn't destroyed it yet. Must be some ancient Celtic magick. Today I'm oddly grateful that I know what it feels like to be hit full power in the head. Guys, it . I would recommend avoiding it! A very valuable lesson I learned in kung fu school. . . . . .

Day 21: After polling you guys in my stories, I decided to make this printinto origami paper. You can scroll through to see it before I cut and folded it. This is a lotus flower. Today I'm grateful for the experience I had living and training I China for 5 years. It was really hard but so important. . . . . . . .

Day 20: 10 days left. This one was the result of some serious play time. Today I'm grateful for my cat. She's entertainment, play, cuddles, and mystery all rolled into one. I like hey best when she's not waking me up before the alarm! . . . . .

Day 19: I just shared the most beautiful moment with Simon where he played piano and I painted this. It has a real rainy day mood to me and I love it. I'll share a video of him playing in my stories. Today I'm grateful for moments like those, of wordless connection. I have a daoists distrust of language and believe it to be incapable of real communication....except maaaaybe poetry. . . . . . .
